Meet six year old Braden from Baton Rouge, LA. Since birth, Braden has fought a tough battle against various Mitochondrial Metabolism Disorders, which have caused him to be non-communicative. However, Braden is still a loving little boy who has tons of joy in his heart! Because of his condition, his wish for a Sensory Room was very thoughtful and special because he can continue to experience his wish on a daily basis.
On April 3, 2012, our Make-A-Wish volunteers visited Braden to surprise him with his wish and to give his room a total sensory overhaul! His Sensory Room included various different sensory stimuli that help to entertain Braden and make his room a brighter, happier place. His room now looks like a professional light show on a daily basis!
The Sensory Room included a therapeutic light stick, a projector light show, a laser light show and a projector that reflected different wildlife scenery on his wall. However, Braden’s favorite part of his Sensory Room wish was the therapy mat that was placed in his family’s living room. This mat provides Braden with a comfortable place for him to relax, and makes his living room a more accessible place for him to make memories with his family!
Braden’s wish has been transformed into a reality. His room is now an exciting space that stimulates his senses and provides him with extra joy each day, and he is now able to spend time more comfortably with family! Braden now knows that dreams and wishes really can come true!
