Described as a kind, ambitious, and a girl with a beautiful smile, Emily was referred to Make-A-Wish as having Mitochondrial DNA Deletion Syndrome.
When Emily was visited by wish granters, she stated that she wanted to meet a Houston Ballet Principal Dancer! We were so excited to grant Emily her wish in January 2018!
She enjoys dancing, cheering, and watching the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. When she is at home or in the hospital, Emily enjoys reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, watching Mrs. Doubtfire, Annie, and Full House. She enjoys eating Gluten Free Cake, Sour Patch Kids, and cheese dip – not at the same time, though! However, what she loves to do the most is to drive her mother crazy and to make her friends and family laugh!
When asked why she wanted to meet a Houston Ballet Principal Dancer as her wish, Emily stated that she loves anything and everything that has to do with dancing. She used to be a dancer, but was diagnosed with her medical condition before she was on pointe. About a year ago, right before she was diagnosed, Emily and her family had tickets to see The Nutcracker - but were unable to attend because Emily was admitted to the hospital. For her wish, she had the opportunity to attend The Nutcracker and she got to have the full VIP experience!
