Regan's Tokyo Wish

Regan was able to visit her favorite city with her family!

Regan’s wish was to go to Japan and to visit the Tokyo Zoo and the Studio Ghibli Museum. She also wanted to see a new country and the different culture that Japan has to offer!

Regan is an 18-year-old from Cypress, TX who lives with cystic fibrosis. Regan’s favorite color is green and enjoys watching the television show “Friends”. She likes to eat pasta and cheese sticks! Regan and her family had the opportunity to explore the Asakusa area while they were in Japan.  While in the Asakusa area, Regan and her family visited Asakusa-Kannon, which is the oldest and most popular Buddhist temple in Tokyo. Regan and her family also had the opportunity to visit the oldest zoo in Japan, Ueno Zoo, which was established in 1882, where they saw many different animals of the Asian culture!

One of the main goal’s on Regan’s wish list while in Japan was to visit the Ghibli Museum. This museum is the animation and art museum of Miyazaki Hayao’s Studio Ghibili – one of Japan’s most famous animation studios. They have produced many feature length films with worldwide distribution, such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. Throughout the many activities Regan and her family had participated in, it can be assured that Regan’s wish to visit Japan and its culture, was a wish come true!
