An Adventurous Life In February of 2011, Heidi was diagnosed with Diffuse BCell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. She could tell something was wrong when she felt excruciating pain all over her body. After several intense rounds of chemotherapy, she barely ate anything. It took a while for Heidi to get back to her old self, but today she feels great. Heidi’s hair has grown back, and she feels like herself again. Heidi’s wish was granted when she was a senior in high school, so she thought her wish would best be spent on something that would be useful in college. Her wish was a new laptop and camera. She also had the opportunity to ride in a limo to her favorite restaurant. Getting out of the limo and seeing her dad’s face filled with pride and joy that she had beaten cancer was her favorite part of her wish. Since Heidi’s wish was granted, she has graduated high school and now attends Louisiana State University. She is majoring in chemistry with a concentration in environmental chemistry. Heidi had the opportunity to study abroad in England at the University of Nottingham in the fall semester of 2014. She is currently studying abroad again in Grenoble, France at Universite Joseph Fourier. Heidi is on track to graduate in December of 2016 and plans to enroll in graduate school for Marine Chemistry and Toxicology. Heidi is not letting cancer stop her from living an adventurous life.
