Timothy Playing With The Dolphin

I would like to thank Jennifer and Dee Dee from Make-A-Wish for making Timothy's Disney Cruise come true. I know it took a lot of work, to plan all the details. Again we all say THANK YOU. Timothy has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy DMD) and this is the one wish he wanted more than anything else. It has been a once in a lifetime trip that made memories that will last forever. He had his calendar in his room, crossing off the days until the trip. Everything went just like it was supposed to, even better when at the airport the plane had to be changed out to a bigger one with two isles down the center. Timothy has always wanted to ride in one of those. Once at the port upon boarding the ship, the reality set in, this is NOT just a dream. The stateroom was just the right size and the tray full of goodies made us feel special.

The next morning we were at Nassau in the Bahamas heading to our first excursion with the dolphins. Timothy had such a great time hugging, kissing, feeding and dancing with them. Then off to the semi-private beach for some fun in the sun. We had time to walk around the city and do some shopping and site seeing.

Next it was off to Castaway Cay (Disney's island) to take a catamaran to go snorkeling along the reef. The water was sooooo clear and blue it looked like a postcard. We've never ever seen anything so beautiful. After some lunch, we rode bikes around the island to see some sites that we would normally not see. Then to finish up the day, Timothy and I went parasailing off the coast in a boat designed to let you take off and land on the boat. It was so awesome to just float way up high in the air and look all around.

I can't forget about the food on the ship. Four course meals at dinner and all the food you can eat all day and night, including room service, which Timothy has always wanted to have. Even Timothy and his big brother went to dinner by themselves one night when his mother and I went to a special dress-up adult dinner. They felt so grown up. And thanks to Russell on board the ship, who is a crew member and Make-A-Wish contact person. He made our cruise go so smooth we didn't have to worry about anything, without him we would have been lost.

Last were the fireworks at sea, which Disney is the only cruise ship that does this. It was a great way to end the last night. Then back to port and the flight home, ended the whirlwind trip. Timothy was able to do everything he wished for, and more. It was truly a dream vacation and A WISH COME TRUE for Timothy. Thanks again to the most wonderful organization in the world….. Make-A-Wish.
